Peoria Area Amazing Race
Are YOU ready to race? The Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau would like to invite you and a teammate to apply for a position in the Peoria Area Amazing Race on Thursday, May 15, 2008! We are proud to showcase our eight county region, especially during May which includes the 25th Annual National Tourism Week. Our event is designed to show off some of the great attractions our area has to offer, while educating the area on tourism trends. And this year, we want the community to be involved!
The Peoria Area Amazing Race is loosely based on the popular reality television shows, The Amazing Race and Treasure Hunters. The television shows feature teams of two as they race to complete tasks and challenges at various destinations around the world. In our version, the teams will travel to various destinations within the Bureau’s eight counties. The goal is to arrive first at each stop along the race and at the finish line. Contestants will travel to different locations within the surrounding counties by car to receive their clues. Clues to the next location will be given at each stop, but not before a task is completed by one of the team members. Each task showcases tourist attractions or the geographic region through mental and physical challenges. This fast-paced adventure will uncover some of the Peoria area’s fine attractions and natural qualities, while promoting National Tourism Week in America. Bring out your competitive spirit, show your teamwork and test your knowledge of the wonderful tourist attractions in our area.

The Peoria Area Convention and Visitors Bureau will provide lunch, snacks and beverages during the event, as well as transportation.
