Exhaling Out the Oppression
As we observe Black History this month, remembering all the positive social changes for Black Americans and other people of color can be challenging. Although racism and discrimination still exist, we should never forget the sacrifices of brave individuals like Malcolm X, Martin Luther King, and Emmit Till, who paved the way for freedom. The fight for equality must continue with vigor. Come exhale out some negative emotions tied to generational trauma, microaggressions, weathering, and other oppressions to refresh you for the fight.
Our Focus: Focus: 1) Emotion Release 2) Rejuvenation
Breath Pattern: a 2-part inhale through the mouth
How Breathwork May Impact You: dry mouth, coughing, tingling, vibrations or buzzing, involuntary bodily movements, changes in body temperature, tetany (involuntary curling of hands or feet and jaw tightness), dizziness, nausea, yawning, sleepiness, sexual arousal, and release of emotions (tears, laughter, etc), shifts in consciousness, and reminder of traumatic memories.
No experience is needed to participate in this 90-minute group breathing session. There will be a brief check-in and an integration period at the end. Registration and signed waiver required.
