Model T Girls Return to Stark County!Have you heard the story of the Model T Girls, also known as the Gypsy Coeds? They hailed from Bradford Illinois in Stark county. Their intrepid travels in the 1930’s and 1940’s were legendary. Over nine consecutive summers they crisscrossed the United States finding adventure at every turn. The stories of their travel are epic; not only heartwarming and adventurous but filled with hilarity as these young women found themselves riding the wave of change brought on by the advent of the automobile and experiencing some of the world outside of Stark County!. John Butte, author of the book “Darlene’s Silver Streak and The Bradford Model T Girls” will present this entertaining story in the Ag Building of the Stark County Historical Society at 1:00 on Saturday, August 9th. After the presentation John will sell his books and conduct a book signing. While all the Model T Girls have since passed, their faithful steed, the 1926 Ford Model T they nicknamed “Silver Streak”, will be on display before and after the presentation. It still runs and has never been restored.
