MISSION

The Heart of Illinois Hospitality Association (HOIHA) works to promote the value of hospitality entities, advocate for the interests of its members, educate the workforce and businesses, and support the future of hospitality entrepreneurs, while exemplifying the epitome of Midwest hospitality.

History

HOIHA was established in 1970 by five local business owners who wanted to aid the development of a strong Peoria area tourism and hospitality industry. HOIHA was also a key player in founding the Peoria Area Convention & Visitors Bureau, now known as Discover Peoria, because its members recognized the significant economic impact hotels and restaurants produce for a region. Since that time, HOIHA has grown into an area-wide organization devoted to creating community among its members, assisting in advocacy, and promoting education for the next generation of hospitality leaders.

Networking + Events

Known for creating a space for those in the hotel and restaurant industry to come together, HOIHA is committed to quarterly networking events as well as award opportunities to recognize area leaders and workers for their above and beyond commitment to Midwest hospitality.

Advocacy

HOIHA works closely with the Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association (IHLA), the Illinois Restaurant Association, the Heart of Illinois Retail Liquor Association, the Public Health Department, the Peoria Civic Center, and Discover Peoria to alert members of new or proposed legislation that may affect the hospitality industry. We also work to promote government proceedings aligned with our mission and take action when policies may negatively impact our member businesses.

Education

Investment in educating existing and future professionals in the hospitality industry is a top priority of HOIHA. Members receive exclusive access to:

-Monthly newsletter with information on local policy and legislation
-Guest speakers sharing insights on timely topics for the local community 
-Scholarship opportunities for students attending Illinois Central College or Bradley University
