Located in northern Mason County, 35 minutes south of Peoria, Manito is situated atop the Mahomet-Teays Aquifer. With an abundant water supply, center pivot irrigations are very common. This friendly little railroad village is the gateway to “The Imperial Valley of the Midwest.” The area produces a variety of crops including seed corn, sweet corn, green beans, popcorn, pumpkins, melons, and sweet peas. Hunting, fishing, hiking and camping are also popular at nearby Spring Lake State Fish and Wildlife Area and Sand Ridge State Forest.
