WHERE TO GET YOUR ST. PATRICK’S DAY FOOD FIX

Are you the kind of person who likes to embark on a St. Patty’s Day pub crawl with friends or family in search of Peoria’s best corned beef and cabbage? Or do you prefer to stay rooted in one restaurant and let the festivities come to you? No matter who you are, we’ve got you covered with this list of great places to get your corned beef fix here in the River City—even if you just want to stay home and create your own Irish feast!

Alwan + Sons Meat Co. {Peoria} // Purchase a complete corned beef brisket dinner with the works or tasty corned beef brisket reuben sandwiches to go. Pre-orders accepted. Served hot from 11:30 am to 3 pm!

Brasky’s Bar + Grill {Peoria} // Brasky’s signature reuben on marbled rye will be complemented with traditional corned beef and cabbage and green beer on the St. Patty’s Day menu. Things promise to really get rolling around 5pm when the live deejay takes over.

Castaway’s Bar + Grill {Chillicothe} // It’s worth the short drive to Chillicothe for owner Amanda Oedenwalt’s corned beef and cabbage, served from 11 am to 9 pm, along with her signature reuben pizza, pickle reubens, corned beef ponies and horseshoes. Deejay Mara starts at 6 p.m. with beer and drink specials all day long.

Donnelly’s Irish Pub {Peoria} // Customers of Donnelly’s line up in droves for Terry’s corned beef dinner and the reuben corned beef sandwich with swiss cheese. Due to heavy demand, Peoria’s oldest traditional Irish pub will not be taking phone orders on St. Pat’s Day. A special in-house St. Patrick’s Day menu will be offered, however, and in-person carryout orders will be accepted.

Jimmy’s Bar {West Peoria} // Longtime Jimmy’s bartender extraordinaire Jerry O’Donnell said the Irish-themed bistro serves as a pre-St. Pat’s Day Parade gathering spot for many, with festivities underway around 9 a.m. After the parade, music will be provided by The McDowells. And, of course, there will be plenty of corned beef, cabbage and other Irish fare available!

Kelleher’s Irish Pub + Eatery {Peoria} // This riverfront institution’s wood-trimmed Irish taproom will be welcoming hundreds of downtown revelers on the Day of the Irish. Start your day early with breakfast at Kellher’s and stay for the Irish music and dancers, outdoor heated tent, multiple tap areas and the camaraderie!

Kenny’s Westside Pub {Peoria} // “Born” 10 years prior on St. Patrick’s Day, this downtown Irish-themed pub and eatery will open at 9 am on St. Pat’s Day for biscuits and gravy, with corned beef and cabbage served all day long. Live music will be provided by Miles Over Mountains, Roundstone Buskers, Skibbereen and Still Shine.

Pottstown Meat + Deli {Peoria} // Pottstown Meat’s homemade corned beef is available uncooked for $6.99 per pound (rounds) and $9.99 per pound (brisket). You can also purchase complete pre-cooked dinners for $15 per meal.

Raber Packing Company {West Peoria} // Hot St. Patrick’s Day corned beef and cabbage dinners and reuben sandwiches featuring Raber’s famous, 50 year-old corning recipe will be served. You can also take home larger quantities of corned beef from their butcher shop for a home celebration. Pre-ordering is preferred but not necessary; Raber serves and sells over 4,000 pounds of corned beef during every St. Patrick’s celebration, according to Buddy Raber.

Slow Hand Craft BBQ {Peoria Heights} // Slow Hand’s special smoked corned beef and reuben sandwiches are earning top reviews from local residents and visitors. On the Day of the Irish, you can relax and take in live music in the Heritage Square Courtyard and enjoy drink specials all day.

The Publik House {Peoria Heights} // Fans of the Publik House rave about the bistro’s signature reuben sandwich. The restaurant also features great beer and cocktail selections, a deep wine list and fast, friendly service.

Silver Dollar Tavern {Peoria} // The venerable “Dollar” has been a St. Pat’s revelers’ destination for decades. In addition to their regular menu, Peoria Heights’ longest running tavern and restaurant will roll out free corned beef and cabbage (while supplies last) and welcome a group of bagpipers beginning around 4 p.m.

W.E. Sullivan’s Irish Pub + Fare {Peoria Heights} // Sullivan’s will open at 8 am for breakfast and offer corned beef and cabbage all day, with in-person take out orders accepted. Eat in or hang out in the tent just outside Sullivan’s on Prospect Road (which will be blocked to traffic) and listen to three bands. Jameson Orange Shake Ups and Green Tea shots will be offered in addition to the full bar options.
